Data collection
TextGrab does not collect, receive, sell, share, or transmit your personal information, usage information, diagnostics, identifiers, or captured content. The app has no account system, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, online AI provider, or cloud processing.
In plain language: Your captured text and images stay on your Mac.
Capture inputs and recognition
TextGrab processes content only when you ask it to capture a screen region, select image or PDF files, recognize an image or PDF from the clipboard, or complete a Continuity Camera capture from a nearby iPhone or iPad.
Screen regions, imported images, rendered PDF pages, clipboard images and PDFs, and Continuity Camera images are processed in memory using Apple Vision. TextGrab does not retain those source images or PDF pages after recognition.
Local history and additive clipboard
After successful recognition, TextGrab can store recognized or edited text and basic capture metadata in its sandbox on your Mac. Metadata can include capture time, source type, detected language, recognition confidence, barcode symbology, pin state, and translations you request.
Source screenshots, imported files, clipboard images or PDFs, and Continuity Camera images are not copied into history. You can search, edit, pin, delete, or clear locally stored history at any time.
If you enable Additive Clipboard, TextGrab stores the combined captured text in local preferences so the collection can persist between launches. You can remove it with Clear Additive Clipboard or Clear History.
Translation, speech, and Apple services
Translation and speech features use Apple system frameworks. macOS may download language or voice resources when you request them. Captured text stays on-device.
Your choices
TextGrab has no remote profile, account, or server-side record. You control the text saved locally through its history and clipboard controls.
Changes to this policy
If TextGrab’s data practices change, this policy and the app’s App Store privacy details will be updated before those practices take effect.
